Peat Maze
Tom Tits Experimental Park, Sweden
I created this maze at Tom Tits Experimental Park with 3300 bundles of peat that were transported from a peat-bog located in south Sweden. Each block is tied to the other by three angled irons; 9900 in all. The structure is layed out over 200 m², with walls reaching 2 meters high. The maze has two separate entrances with a drinking fountain (shown at right) made of limestone at its center. Wandering through this labyrinth invites prehistoric scents. One can easily get lost in there. I resorted to the services of two assistants on this project over the two months that bridged winter and spring of 1998. |
