Sorrow and Three Kings
Sweden and Finland
Sorrow stands in Eggeby Gård Peoples Park just outside Stockholm. The statue turns around in spite of the saying; "dont look back", or stands paralyzed, wanting to escape the other way. This sculpture is made of labrador and diabas, and measures 20 x 26 x 120 cm. The original hand was broken and replaced by a piece of black granite when the whole figure was vandalized and broken in two. Fortunately, everything was successfully glued back together. |
The Three Kings is in Kankanpää, Finland. This sculpture was made during a Rock and Stone symposium. I was puzzled by the name Rock and Stone until I discovered that the Rock part of the name was a local brand of beer. The Three Kings is made of granite and teak and measures 180 x 60 x 23 cm. The wooden part was replaced by iron over the years. |
